[VANCOUVER,BC] – When the 2024 Grey Cup Festival opens next week, there will be a wide range of free activities and events for fans of all ages to enjoy. From parties, concerts, ziplines, and interactive activations at the outdoor Save-On-Foods Street Festival, to the expansive indoor footprints of the immersive fan zones in the Vancouver Convention Centre East building, there is something for everyone.
Today, in partnership with Destination Vancouver, festival organizers revealed the final free activity set to entice and delight fans to downtown’s Coal Harbour region next week: a one-thousand-unit drone show set to be the largest yet in Canada.
“Destination Vancouver, in collaboration with Pixel Sky Animations and the Grey Cup Festival Organizing Committee, is excited to unveil Canada’s largest drone show,” said Royce Chwin, President and CEO of Destination Vancouver. “This incredible event will feature one thousand drones illuminating the Vancouver night sky in an unforgettable display. The unique performance will celebrate the Canadian spirit and honour the Grey Cup tradition that unites fans from coast, to coast, to coast for an extraordinary week of fun and festivities. Join us as we light up the sky in celebration!”
“This remarkable initiative led by our partners at Destination Vancouver and developed by Pixel Sky Animations further pushes the 2024 edition of the festival into the Grey Cup week history books,” said Duane Vienneau, President of the BC Lions and Co-Chair of the 2024 Grey Cup Festival.
The 2024 Grey Cup Festival Drone Show presented by Destination Vancouver will take place on November 13th at 8:30 p.m. upon conclusion of the official Grey Cup Festival Kickoff Party presented by PCI Developments from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Canada Pl Way. The drone show will be visible from along the waterfront seawall between the Vancouver Convention Centre West and Westin Bayshore Hotel. Canada Place has obstructed sightlines and is not open for viewing the drone show. The outdoor Save-On-Foods Street Festival will take over Canada Pl Way between Howe Street and Thurlow Street and run from November 13 to 16. The street festival will feature free rides on the RBC Harbour and Carstar Street Ziplines, opportunities to explore football on the Prospera Outdoor Mini Field, non-stop live music daily between 11:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.at the Payworks Entertainment Stage, 30+ sponsor activations, food trucks, and a beer garden (19+).
The Vancouver Convention Centre east building will offer a variety of free activities from November 13 to 16, including five major zones aimed at fostering an immersive and enjoyable atmosphere for fans of all ages: TELUS Family Zone, WestJet Ultimate CFL Experience, TGS Esports Experience, Indigenous Marketplace presented by Destination Indigenous, and the World Vision Global Pavilion.
Free events open to the public include the Grey Cup Trophy Arrival (November 10), Kickoff Party presented by PCI Developments (November 13), Grey Cup Festival Drone Show (November 13), CFL Fan State of the League (November 15), Chevrolet Cheer Extravaganza (November 16) and the United Traffic Fan March (November 17).
The latest featured entertainer set to take the free Payworks Entertainment Stage is Surrey’s very own Chani Nattan and Inderpal Moga on Thursday November14. The dynamic duo was selected in collaboration with 5X, British Columbia’s immensely popular Panjabi music and art festival. As part of the 2024 Grey Cup Festival’s Thursday music theme, Global Sounds, Chani and Inderpal will perform at 6:15 p.m. between performances from En Karma (5:05 p.m.) and Sentinel Storage Headliner: Delhi 2 Dublin (7:30 p.m.).
